Fool proof way is to keep your hand at the tip of the prop, wind the prop clockwise (but not too much) and release the prop to the outside of the arc. Can’t get your hand smacked using this method.

The trust washer will need to be about 3” back from the front of the cowl. The Corsair cowl measures 9 3/4” when measured 3” back from the front...
