Could it be a little too much lateral surface area ahead of the center of pressure? That could easily reduce the effectiveness of the vertical stabilizer.

You also have the option of using the next size...

You also have the option of using the next size smaller music wire. It is much stronger than the supplied wire even when thinner. Solder on a threaded coupler at the tail end and you are good to go.

Nearly doubling the elevator throw is not a good plan. Top Flite does a good job with balance and throw calculations. I highly recommend you stick the the manual!

Doubtful. The center section spar is aluminum. You could remove some to clear the cannister, but it would compromise its strength.

No more problems.

I don't know what it weighs. He's been flying it for several years. His RCU handle is "radfordc." Perhaps he can chime in and answer. I'll take a guess and say 25 pounds.
